People today we raise our voices together in Aragon, like many others in other places the planet, we know that society is changing. No one can deny the environmental crisis and the capitalist system has achieved almost exhausting the fossil fuels and climate change is felt in various fields. This necessarily will involve major structural changes. We, through this mobilization, we question directly defend the current system and other life forms. We know we need to change the way we think, create spaces for intervention and taking action.
In this mobilization we are different social struggles of the social and environmental left Aragon. Motley groups and platforms make visible the various conflicts Aragon and planetariums. Together we multiply our forces and empower individuals in a common struggle. We want to present alternatives that call into question the current capitalist system.
Each of the groups and platforms represented us their daily demands. And also expose a common discourse because there are many issues that unite us. Aragon social fabric is broken, here we are. Popular struggles nevertheless resist. We know that we were never given anything not to fight him before, so we planted. Together, pick a good harvest.
The threats are many and growing more aggressive. Is widespread misinformation that exploit those who want to discredit and dismantle public health systems and education, among others, to profit in private business. The privatization that we try to impose could pose dramatic problems for the Aragonese and we have no more than take the look to the U.S. to check the amount of people who can not access basic health care or secondary education because of the neoliberal postulates.
In Aragon the deterioration of the environment is increasingly worrying. The depopulation of large areas appear to facilitate the aggressive imposition of projects that developed with no or little social response. Thus, in these decades of ruthless capitalism (especially since the Franco dictatorship to this day) exploit our rivers, mountains and fields, leaving little value added and many environmental and social conflicts: reservoirs, airports, resorts, high-speed trains, hydropower, cement, excessive transport of goods by road, abandoning the trains, articulation of the territory, thermal, intensive farming and industrial agriculture, that abuses of chemical fertilizers, GMOs and pesticides, invasive species, wasteful and irrational consumption, rivers and land contaminated, torn landscape, a territory occupied by industries and military practice ...
and political power and business, at the hands of powerful families and the wealthiest bankers, carry out their plans. Most decisions are made behind us, and that democratic participation is still low and inefficient. Meanwhile, the most powerful pressure on other public representatives, despite having the votes of their constituents, often obey a partisan and corporate that have nothing to do with his campaign promises. In this context, major media companies in Aragon play an important role, because the information that comes through the mass media is very distorted and manipulated by those who "run the roost."
In this situation, the Aragon and the Aragonese we get together, meet, share views, create together, support each other and move towards that other possible world. Change is in our hands, we are active and want to take the reins of our lives.
Proposals for starters, we can think of many. Any person, from personal and collective situation (work, family, economic, social) can bring something to change. Among all groups that are represented in this movement are a handful of alternatives. Here, only, we note some of them, practices and extended to involve more people and territories:
- equitable distribution of wealth: basic income, decent work and spread, control of waste, large fortunes , benches ruthless and insane investments, betting on a new model for social and productive social justice so as not to crush the least we have a brake on the neo-liberal attacks on social rights (pensions, contracts, agreements, increases in indirect taxes ,...)
- Environmental Defense environment: not our landscapes, rivers, mountains, forests, biodiversity, respect for the dignity of animals, ... life is not possible. Neither here nor anywhere. Aragon can not be a huge Zaragoza and a handful of inhabited areas in the middle of a deserted wasteland. We defend the natural life and allow life in the field.
- Alternatives to reliance on fossil fuels and nuclear energy saving and efficiency, renewables, solar panels, small wind on buildings, other means of transport such as train or bicycle, ...
- Paths to self-sufficiency, food Nearby healthy products, recovery of native seeds, vegetable gardens, rainwater collection, composting, buy directly from local farmers, cooperatives, green consumer ...
- Recovery lifestyle and conscious and responsible consumption: rejection of useless objects, crafts, carpools, share knowledge, walking towards self-sufficiency and local networks ...
- Learning from popular culture, collective wisdom of our ancient, defense of our languages, communication through community media, face to face, their own spaces as social centers self-managed, free speech ...
- public systems improvement, quality, free and universal: health, education, ... can not be privatized if we move towards a just, healthy and educated.
- No to social exclusion, marginalization, racism, fascism, discrimination and violence, sexist or chauvinistic, borders, wars and the rich and greedy to continue running the world will.
- Act from the individual looking for ordinary: collective action is essential to intervene in policy local and advance broader. We bet on social cooperation, solidarity and mutual support to overcome the current situation.
